It’s sunrise at a new bench that I’m going to call Elliot Bench. We’re on holidays at the moment. And this bench is absolutely spectacular. It’s got a view of the lake and the mountain range in the background. There’s no one around. There’s some trees and fields. There’s kangaroos grazing in with the sheep. […]
Day 54 – Back Deck Bench
It’s the most beautiful morning out here. I went out for an early morning walk earlier. And now, this warm gust of wind coming down the street is blowing all these dead leaves from the tree beside the playground. And all the curled up leaves were blowing towards me in the wind. Making these little […]
Day 53 – Back Deck Bench
I came out here hoping for a little bit of peace and quiet. I’ve been upset lately, not feeling good mentally. I was hoping to just relax, but the flock of birds has been so loud. They’ve been really distracting, always flying over and buzzing around.
Day 52 – Big Old Tree Bench
Edward Curls, and his two ladies, are down in the river by the tree that is shaped like a whale’s tail. Can you spot the three Ducks in this photo?
Day 51 – Big Old Tree Bench
We’ve been seeing Edward again pretty much every day. He’s always hanging out with his two lady friends. They’re native Pacific Black Ducks. Since Edward has been hanging out with them, he’s gone a little bit wild himself. He no longer comes to us looking for snacks. He stays well away. This is Edward and […]
Day 50 – Big Old Tree Bench
It never ceases to amaze me how Gum Trees often look like other things in the forks of their branches. This dead tree looks like a whale’s tail.
Day 49 – Northern Bench
I don’t feel calm on the bench today. That’s a big gray storm cloud. There’s smoke from wood fires in the air. I’m angry today. I’m angry at my life. I’m angry that I’m losing my left side. I’m angry and frustrated that I can’t do the things I want to do, whether it’s a […]
Day 48 – Northern Bench
I feel sad today. Do I know why? I’m not sure. Maybe it’s because my son is still so sweet, but he’s going to have to grow up soon. And there’s always a sadness that comes with that loss of innocence. It’s sunset and there’s a beautiful pink angel wing cloud in the sky.
Day 47 – Other Side Bench
It got really cold really quickly down by the river today. I was outside only an hour ago and it was late afternoon and the sun still felt warm. As soon as the sun went down, the cold air just started rolling down the river valley. It’s going to be a cold night with frost. […]
Day 46 – Big Old Tree Bench
It’s sunset, but in here under the trees, it seems much closer to night. We’re watching Edward settling in on his favourite log down in the river.
