It’s a wonderful day to be sitting on a park bench. It’s warm and sunny. There’s a little Swallow flitting around, catching insects over the river, circling around and around and dipping up and down. The sunlight is glinting off his glossy feathers.
As I was sitting here, someone came up to me and asked if the river was good to swim in. I shook my head and said it has submerged sticks and it’s actually not that deep. The water’s so brown so you can’t see the bottom at all.
As I was talking, a White-plumed Honeyeater decided to take a swim. He seem to be enjoying every second of it. He’s now perched on a low overhanging branch in the sun, squeaking at me and repeatedly fluffing all his wet feathers. He’s going back for another dip now!
