Day 53 – Switchback Bench

With the higher river level it’s pretty impressive down here at the cascades. The footbridge has water lapping at the bottom of it, and it is strewn with debris on the top from when the water flowed over it. The cascades are pretty much all underwater except for one big boulder and the water is racing all around it. The river is brown and turbulent, with waves lapping at the tiny sandy beach on the opposite bank. All the little submerged melaleuca saplings are getting shaken by the flow of the river.

The birds here are slightly different. Both times I’ve been here, I’ve seen Laughing Kookaburras and Grey Fantails.
