This morning was such a shock! Northern Bench is completely underwater. You can’t even see it. The photo shows where the Bench is, but there’s no sign of it. The river has flooded. It’s totally burst its banks, and the walking trail on either side of the river is totally submerged. Northern Bench, Southern Bench, Other Side Bench, and Private Bench are all underwater. It’s like they don’t even exist.
The flood markers on the other side of the river are underwater too. I’m going to go over and see what height they go up to once the level goes down. I can’t even see the tops of them.
It’s amazing. It’s really quite cool. And the funny thing is it hasn’t rained that much here, but I guess the river catchment is large and it’s poured rain in a different part of the catchment. The floodwaters are racing by. There’s all kinds of debris flying down the river. It’s very exciting times down here today.
