Day 30 – Private Bench

The Corellas are down by the river today, making a racket in the trees. They’re not as noisy as some of the other days though because a lot of them are napping in low hanging branches. It is a glorious day. There’s a big blue sky. The grass is still lush and green from winter rain. There is a gentle breeze, but not enough to make ripples on the surface of the river. It feels like a magical day with the blue sky and trees reflecting in the river.

Today, I saw a platypus in the river. It was exciting. They are a particularly shy creature, and very hard to spot. And I happened to see it twice very clearly. I saw it’s sleek furry brown shape. It just broke the surface of the water as it swam along slowly leaving a trailing ‘V’ shape wake. I saw the tip of it’s bill too as it scooted around on the surface. Then it was gone, leaving nothing but a trail of a bubbles.
