Day 3 – Northern Bench

Today, the Bench was unbelievably noisy. The river’s resident flock of Little Corellas decided to land in the tree above me. Not only was I worried about getting pooped on, but they were deafening. They always seem like they are everywhere, and are all you can hear when they are above. They were screeching, shrieking, squabbling, climbing, swinging around, tearing at the bark, and fighting with each other over leaves and gumnuts.

1:28 pm …

Suddenly, for some unknown reason, the whole flock took flight and left. From one moment to the next, the sky was filled with white birds, then I heard their calls rapidly fading until I was left with nothing but the sound of the wind through the trees.
