Day 23 – Northern Bench

Today is stormy and gray. The wind is gusting around me as I sit. It buffets me from the left, then the right, behind and in front.

There was four huge pelicans up in the sky. They were getting pushed around by the wind, but they didn’t fight it. I watched them for ages, soaring one way then the other. They were dipping down and up as the wind currents changed. The tips of their wings were perfectly in sync as they swooped up and down, tilted left and right. Sometimes they would get pushed backward, then sometimes the wind would help them forward. But they were barely flapping their wings, they were just soaring quite effortlessly on the currents. Slowly but surely, they made their way across the sky from the right of me to the left toward wherever it was they were going.

It’s funny because when I sit here on the Bench, I just feel so content. I feel like everything truly is okay. And it’s such a precious, beautiful feeling. How can I keep that feeling as I go about the rest of my day? How can I take it from the Bench into all the other things I do in my life?
