I was sitting on the bench up the hill before, and it’s quite a cold day. Mostly cloudy. I was sitting up there, when suddenly the sun came out from behind a cloud and I looked all the way down the hill. I could just see myself, my shadow, sitting there on the bench completely […]

Day 72 – Distillery Creek Bench
To the birds out here sound different. And the trees are different too. There’s a mix of iron barks, which are the trees with the black trunks, and the eucalypts with paler bark. We’ve come here to have a campfire, a bush walk and a barbecue lunch on the fire. It’s a beautiful day for […]
Day 71 – Big Old Tree Bench
There’s mushrooms everywhere. They are all along the path. They’re white and they’re pushing up through the fallen leaves. They’re very fresh at the moment and quite beautiful. It must be all the rain we had recently that’s brought them up.
Day 70 – Northern Bench
There’s a big bunch of ducks down at the river today. My son calls them the duck gang. He’s busy hiding behind a tree hoping that they’ll come close to him if they don’t see him. But I think they are onto him.
Day 69 – Other Side Bench
Someone’s taken the rope swing down already. I wonder if it was the person that put it up or I wonder if it was the council workers making sure that there was no public liability risks. Sometimes I wonder if public liability is ruining a lot of fun in our world. I saw Edward today. […]
Day 68 – Other Side Bench
Someone’s put a rope swing in the big tree beside the bench. There’s endless hours of fun here for kids. So simple. So much fun.
Day 67 – Big Old Tree Bench
The rain is coming in and this sweet little bird is standing right above me singing. It’s a Willy Wagtail.
Day 66 – Other Side Bench
It has been a bit of a tough day. The weather’s been really cold lately and I think it gets me down a little bit. But then, I got outside in the fresh, crisp, cold air and there was this magnificent little lady bug sharing the bench with me. Everything felt better when I focused […]
Day 65 – Big Old Tree Bench
There’s a tiny, tiny little cascade near the Big Old Tree Bench. It’s not rocks though, it’s a fallen tree. When the river flooded last year, the fallen tree’s branches got full of debris. And now the water bubbles and rushes over all this debris. It’s a little bit like a dam I guess. It […]
Day 64 – Private Bench
It’s been raining today. The river level is starting to rise for winter. The little causeway is still just above the water level though. Today, it’s about 10 degrees Celsius. The first truly cold day. It’s that kind of cold air that almost burns your nose when you breathe in.
