Day 104 – Uluru Sunrise Bench

Another day, another dawn. Today, we’ve stayed longer at the sunrise area and all the other tourists have gone. It’s just us. And it is absolutely breathtaking! The big blue sky, the shadows on the rock, the enormity of the space.

Day 102 – Kanku-Breakaways Bench

It’s windy up here on the Bench at the lookout, yet somehow, it also feels still. It’s because the land all around feels timeless and still. The panoramic view is amazing. I love the colors of rocks. Sitting up here at the lookout, I’m struck by how the trees are all bent and gnarled by […]

Day 101 – Warnertown Bench Two

It’s sunrise in Warnertown. Again, I’m here bird watching. There’s three different types of Honeyeaters in the tree beside the Bench. And there’s a big Red Wattlebird, who’s trying to guard the tree and chase all the smaller birds away. There’s also some Eurasian Coots over the other side, and some Ducks that are making […]

Day 99 – Blue Wren Bench

Today as I turned the corner on the path, I looked at the Blue Wren Bench and there was literally a blue wren sitting on the bench! It was pretty special. The rest of them were just foraging in the grass around the bench. I tried to pull out my camera quickly, but because I […]

Day 98 – Switchback Bench

The cascades are loud today. There was more rain overnight. The river’s filling up bit by bit. There’s a gentle rain today. It’s beautiful.

Day 97 – Blue Wren Bench

I’m here at Blue Wren Bench. The blue wrens are on the other bank. I can see them flitting around in the undergrowth. The river’s flowing swiftly. It’s usual winter current. Sometimes I sit on the bench and I just let everything fall silent. And then see what’s left. There’s usually a greater sense of […]

Day 96 – Private Bench

It’s such a lovely winter morning. There is a breeze. I went out for a walk wearing gloves, no but no woolly hat. The grass is green and the sky is blue. It just feels good to be alive today. This is a picture of the path to Private Bench.

Day 95 – Windy Lake Bench

It’s cold on this bench. The breeze is blowing from the lake, making it even colder. But the sun is out and it’s magnificent. It’s glaring off the lake. There’s all kinds of nice water birds too. I saw some black swans that had baby cygnets. Bit of an unusual time of year for that […]

Day 94 – Lily Pond Bench

It’s not windy today, which almost makes it feel warm. There’s a little bit of sunshine. The autumn leaves have almost all fallen off the trees in the field beside the path on the way here. There’s some frogs in the Lily Pond. I remember back to last year, when for a couple of weeks […]
