I decided to sit outside to eat my dinner. I listened to the frogs, and the birds, and watched the sunset. I saw the clouds move through all stages of purple, from pink to purple grey as the light faded. I read a book today. The author was talking about getting clear on your ‘guiding […]

Day 58 – Big Old Tree ‘Bench’
There’s so many birds around today, big ones and little ones. There’s a lot of Rainbow Lorikeets, Crimson Rosellas, Eastern Rosellas and the Red-rumped Parrots. I also saw a species of duck that I can’t remember the name of. I’ll have to look it up in my bird book when I get home. Today, I’m […]
Day 57 – Back Deck Bench
It feels like winter out here. The wind is freezing my fingers and toes, nose and cheeks. The frogs in the field behind are croaking. It’s just me out here, with the first star and the last light of day.
Day 56 – By the Way Bench
Sitting here this morning there is a gentle breeze in the trees and their leaves are rustling softly. There are birds singing and the occasional bee buzzing. It’s just utter perfection. The softness is everywhere. The breeze touches my face. Such a beautiful blue sky day.
Day 55 – Back Deck Bench
I went for a surf this morning, and had a fantastic time for a couple hours. Then I got home and had to go straight to bed because I was so wiped out. I spent the afternoon in bed, and now my whole body is sore. It’s literally difficult to sit upright. Sitting out here […]
Day 54 – Lily Pond Bench
I love doing this bench thing. Today, I walked down to the lily pond with my gumboots in a plastic bag because I wanted to get a close up photo of a flower. I waded in. The mud at the edge was that special kind of thick, goopy, slimy pond mud. I made my way […]
Day 53 – Switchback Bench
With the higher river level it’s pretty impressive down here at the cascades. The footbridge has water lapping at the bottom of it, and it is strewn with debris on the top from when the water flowed over it. The cascades are pretty much all underwater except for one big boulder and the water is […]
Day 51 – Lily Pond Bench
It’s exciting! I’ve been wondering if this would happen. The last time I walked past the Lily Pond, I saw something that either looked like new rolled up lily leaves, or the buds of flowers. It turns out, it was the buds of flowers and this is just the first of them. I imagined the […]
Day 50 – Back Deck Bench
It’s sunset and the colours are soft. There’s a bunch of birds having noisy argument in the primrose near the back fence. The frogs are also really loud in the field behind. It’s cool, and the breeze is blowing the golden clouds swiftly across the sky. I felt like I didn’t have time to sit […]
Day 49 – Northern Bench
My son seems happy to throw stones into the river for hours. It’s quite amazing. He’s just enjoying the splashes and the ripples they make. He also thinks he can skip stones but he can’t. Today, it keeps going from hot sun to rain. It rained gently while I was sitting on the Bench. I […]
