Anxiety is the strangest thing. It can be so powerful. It can make you feel afraid to do absolutely anything, even the simplest of tasks. It really manages to rob any joy out of situations and things. A couple hours ago I was thinking about what I wanted to do over the next few days […]

Day 12 – Back Deck Bench
I really love how warm my back deck is. I can sit out here in the sun, protected from the wind by the house, and look out over the green of my lawn, the shrubs in the backyard, the fields behind, and the fruit trees down the side of the house. The flowers and buds […]
Day 11 – Grandma’s Backyard Bench
Even just sitting out here for two minutes makes me feel better. Maybe it’s all the green leaves. Maybe it’s the sun and the clouds in the sky. Or maybe it’s just because I’ve taken the moment to relax. It’s a really windy day out today.
Day 10 – Oval Bench
It’s foggy out here this morning. The sun is struggling to shine through. It’s meant to be a hot day eventually. But for right now, it’s foggy, humid and not very warm at all.
Day 9 – Northern Bench
Now that I’m sitting here, I realise how much I’ve missed sitting at this bench. I love how much greenery there is beside the river, and I love this huge magnificent river gum. At this time of year, it’s shedding its bark so it has this beautiful, shiny, coppery trunk. The river is flowing gently. […]
Day 8 – Back Deck Bench
It’s another overcast, humid day. Today there’s a Rainbow Lorikeet in one of the fruit trees in my backyard. There’s also one Corella flying past now. It’s just beautiful out here. I love the warm air and the gentle breeze and the butterflies everywhere. Our world is so incredible. I love how just stepping outside […]
Day 7 – Back Deck Bench
I’m already feeling nostalgic about summer. Even though it’s only the first day of March, it just feels like already the days are that little bit shorter. It is very warm and humid today. I can hear the air conditioner droning away behind me, and the crickets everywhere in the backyard. It smells like freshly […]
Day 6 – Oval Bench
I’ve never sat at this bench before. Somehow, I’ve walked past it before many times, but I’ve never even noticed it was here. It’s clearly been here for a long time though because it’s not new. The wood has lichen growing on it and the timber is very weathered and a bit warped. It’s not […]
Day 5 – Lily Pond Bench
At this time of year, the Lily Pond is almost overgrown with the lily leaves. There’s no gaps in between where you can see the sky reflected in the water. It is a sea of green thick leaves, layers of leaves, all competing to grow on top of each other to get more light. They […]
Day 4 – Lily Pond Bench
Two of the big pine trees behind the Bench have blown down in the wind. Since I was here, an old tree has come down very recently. It’s huge trunk has splintered near the roots. The other tree looks like it came down at least a month ago. It’s already dry and brown, whereas this […]
