Day 236 – Northern Bench (still flooded)

Northern Bench is just emerging out of the floodwaters. Across the other side, I can see the top of Other Side Bench as well. As the waters gone down a little bit, it’s starting to reveal all the debris that’s been washed down in the flood and gotten stuck on all the trees.

Day 235 – Blue Wren Bench (flooded)

This is amazing. I didn’t come down to this end of the river last year when it flooded, so I haven’t seen it like this. The flood looks even more amazing at this end because the river is narrower up here. When the river burst its banks, it just completely spread. I can’t get anywhere […]

Day 234 – Northern Bench (flooded)

Well, it’s official. The river has flooded, and it is higher than the highest flood we saw last spring. It’s so impressive. All of the Benches are under the water. There is nothing quite like the power of nature.

Day 233 – Back Deck Bench

Last night and today it has rained constantly. There’s frogs in the puddle behind my back fence once again. There’s been big floods in many parts of the state, and I can’t wait to go down and check the river tomorrow morning. Everything here is wet. There’s water droplets everywhere and the rain is still […]

Day 232 – Back Deck Bench

This photo captured the moment for me. A big storm is coming. They are forecasting a big rain event for tomorrow and flood warnings have been issued. It’s warm, humid and still out here. The clouds are low, dark and ominous. A flock of ibis’ passed silently overhead, across the only brighter patch in the […]

Day 213 – Northern Bench

There was three red rumped parrots down at the water’s edge when I arrived today. They flew up into the tree and then flew down to land on the other bank. I wish that something as small as a phone could take photos is close up as a telephoto lens so I could get pictures […]

Day 208 – Northern Bench

At Northern Bench, there isn’t a cloud in the sky. The sunlight is sparkling off the river. The water level has dropped a lot.

Day 206 – Private Bench

The Bench has clearly been underwater in the flood. I’m sitting on the back of the Bench, because the seat is now covered in a fine layer of mud which has now dried and cracked into these beautiful patterns. It looks like an aerial photo of a river.

Day 205 – Blue Wren Bench

I haven’t been to Blue Wren Bench in a while because the river was too high at the bridge. Today, it’s just as peaceful as ever though. The photo is of the old dead tree beside the Bench which has a bee’s nest in the hollow near the top. I always see bees coming and […]

Day 204 – Switchback Bench

I’ve been sitting on the Bench for quite a while today. One because it turned out to be such a lovely day. When I left the house it was foggy and cold, but now it is sunny and warm. I’m also sitting here waiting to see if the river level drops enough to cross the […]
