Day 329 – Big Old Tree Bench

There’s always so many birds at the Big Old Tree. I saw a Crimson Rosella feather in the grass. It’s beautiful iridescent shades of blue and green. Some of my favourite colours.

Day 328 – Other Side Bench

I was sitting here thinking it was as bit of an uneventful Benching day. Then along came some Moorhens with a fluffy little baby. He is just so cute. He stumbled on the bank before, and rolled over a little bit. He fell on a Corella feather and, because he was wet, a Corella feather […]

Day 326 – Maggie Hill Bench

I’m here, at the very top of the hill at the first light of day. It is sensational. The air is warm. The sun is coming. I’m sitting here waiting to see a grass bird that I know lives here. I want to confirm it’s the Australian Pipit. I’ve only seen it here first thing […]

Day 325 – Maggie Bench

The sunsets out here have been absolutely magical. Today it’s been hazy, so the sun seems very red as it sets on the horizon. Today, I think I saw what some of the birds of prey were that I’ve been seeing around. I think there’s a Nankeen Kestrel, and a Brown Kite. I also saw […]

Day 322 – Maggie Bench

What an utterly wonderful Bench. Every direction I look there is another beautiful view. The sunset light is making everything golden, and a steady stream of birds seem to come to these two old trees. They are magnificent. So far, I’ve seen a Black Faced Cuckoo-shrike, the south eastern form of the Striated Pardalote, a […]

Day 320 – Back Deck Bench

Just admiring the beautiful fresh green leaves on the peach tree. Sitting in the sun. There’s Rainbow Lorikeets, Crows and Corellas. The Wrens were here earlier too.

Day 319 – The Stables Bench Two

Another Bench under the same oak tree. They are both beautiful. The sheep are right next door today. There’s a warm breeze. The Black Cockatoos have been around all day yesterday and today. I love it.

Day 318 – The Stables Bench One

A new bench. It’s very windy. This bench is underneath an oak tree. It has Black Cockatoos flying over to the dam behind it and a view of a wind farm in the distance. I also saw two Kookaburras up at the dam, and there’s a family of Superb Wrens in the bushes beside the […]

Day 317 – Private Bench

The whole flock is here! There are white birds swooping everywhere. There are white feathers all over the ground. And there is one Corella sitting unusually quietly above me. I’m going to take a photo of him.

Day 311 – Big Old Tree Bench

I’d been wondering why the whale’s tail tree looked different. I realised it’s because a tree trunk got wrapped around and stuck in it during the flood. There’s also a Chestnut Teal duck hanging out here today. They really are beautiful birds.
