Day 162 – Tennis Court Bench

I’m at the tennis courts really early, even though we’re not playing tennis. There’s just so many birds around the moment. I caught this lovely little thornbill standing on top of the tennis court fence.

Day 156 – Other Side Bench

The corellas are around at the river today. I wanted to come here to check the flood markers after I went to Switchback Bench and saw that the bridge was underwater yesterday. It’s at 2.8 meters today. Still nothing like it was last year when it flooded. I’m trying to decide whether to use a […]

Day 152 – Lily Pond Bench

I was just looking around here wondering what to take a photo of, when I saw these two teal ducks coming in low. I knew they were going to land. So I took a photo just as they were about to. There’s hardly any lily pads left. It’s too cold. The ones that are left […]

Day 151 – Northern Bench

Two ducks have just skated in to land. I wonder if the recording picked up that sound. It’s so beautiful. That’s Edward that I can hear quacking. He’s waking up on the other side of the river. He started preening. I love how when the river gets full, the water flows around the submerged tree […]

Day 147 – Northern Bench

It’s just beautiful down here by the river at sunrise. The crows have just woken up and have been flying around calling loudly. My little friend, the willy wagtail, is in the middle of the path slowly dancing his way towards me.

Day 146 – Northern Bench

The ducks are quite loud this morning. It rained a lot last night. The river is a up. The edge is only about four meters from Northern Bench. In the next few days, I’ll go over to the flood markers on the other side and see how much the water has risen. I have sat […]

Day 144 – Private Bench

It rained most of the day today. It’s really windy and there’s dark storm clouds everywhere. There’s going to be another storm tonight, but right now it’s lovely down here at the river. There’s lots of ducks. There’s this duck, I think it’s nesting, sitting on a nest in the middle of the ‘cup’ of […]

Day 142 – Northern Bench

It’s very windy today, stormy. Another storm is coming tonight. There was one last night. The river is up today. There’s also a big group of red rumped parrots here. In the photo, there’s four of them flying away, if you look very closely. Two of them are females, which can be harder to spot. […]

Day 140 – Tennis Court Bench

The masked lapwings next to the tennis court have had babies. There’s fluffy little chicks running around. They can be really noisy if anything disturbs them. It’s been an interesting few days for me. I haven’t been feeling good physically. And I’m scared of where this might end up. I’ve been talking to my body […]

Day 100 – Warnertown Bench One

It’s sunset! It is beautiful by the pond here. We’re on holidays again. I’m going to call this Warnertown Bench One. There’s lots of crested pigeons here and when they fly, they make this particular sound. It goes like ‘brrrrr’ as they fly by. So many birds are coming at sunset to the pond. I’ve […]
