Today, I was definitely feeling stressed when I sat down on the Bench, my heart rate was up and my breath was short. I could tell that I had the weight of all the pressures that surround me at the moment. Too many appointments, too many meetings, too many parental responsibilities.
I’m really glad that I have set myself the task of sitting on a bench every single day. Because it’s like a cue for me, it’s a reminder of why I’m doing this. It’s so that I slow down and take this time. So that I breathe. So that I consciously let it all settle down and just be a little bit more.
Today it worked and I do feel calm. I still have the same workload and all the competing priorities, but I feel a sense of distance from them.
