Day 333 – Other Side Bench

The main flock of the Corellas is going over right now. Oh my goodness, they are deafening.

Day 332 – Big Old Tree Bench

There’s a big thunderstorm coming. It rained quite as lot yesterday. I think it’s going to rain again soon. There’s still a lot of birds around though. I’m watching the Red-rumped parrots in a tree on the other side of the river. On the way back, I saw the Sacred Kingfisher again. He was going […]

Day 331 – Back Deck Bench

There’s a wonderful stormy sky out here. It’s just turned from hot to cooler as the clouds have come over. The Corellas, as always, are in the distance.

Day 330 – Big Old Tree Bench

The Corellas are above the Bench today. I think it’s because of all these wonderful fresh acorns that are in the tree at the moment.

Day 329 – Big Old Tree Bench

There’s always so many birds at the Big Old Tree. I saw a Crimson Rosella feather in the grass. It’s beautiful iridescent shades of blue and green. Some of my favourite colours.

Day 328 – Other Side Bench

I was sitting here thinking it was as bit of an uneventful Benching day. Then along came some Moorhens with a fluffy little baby. He is just so cute. He stumbled on the bank before, and rolled over a little bit. He fell on a Corella feather and, because he was wet, a Corella feather […]

Day 327 – Lal Lal Bench

Today is completely different to the last day I was here. There’s no butterflies, there’s no warm sunshine. There’s actually a cold wind and rain. The fields are wet today. The Wrens are still here though.

Day 326 – Maggie Hill Bench

I’m here, at the very top of the hill at the first light of day. It is sensational. The air is warm. The sun is coming. I’m sitting here waiting to see a grass bird that I know lives here. I want to confirm it’s the Australian Pipit. I’ve only seen it here first thing […]

Day 325 – Maggie Bench

The sunsets out here have been absolutely magical. Today it’s been hazy, so the sun seems very red as it sets on the horizon. Today, I think I saw what some of the birds of prey were that I’ve been seeing around. I think there’s a Nankeen Kestrel, and a Brown Kite. I also saw […]

Day 324 – Maggie Bench

It looks very different out here this morning. It’s all misty. The sun is trying to rise behind some trees on the hills to the east. I can see a faint glow on the horizon. But it feels warm, so you can tell it’s going to be another hot day.
