Day 343 – Big Old Tree Bench

I came down to the river today hoping to see the baby Moorhens. I didn’t see them at Other Side Bench where they usually are. So I just walked down this way, and I saw the family that has two babies. The babies are picking through the grass on the opposite bank, and the parents […]

Day 342 – Back Deck Bench

It’s such a peaceful morning out here. There’s a big blue sky, very little wind, and the sun is warm, but the air is surprisingly cool for summer. I hear the Wrens, and just before a flock of Gang Gang Cockatoos flew over. I haven’t seen them fly over my house before.

Day 341 – Big Old Tree Bench

We were walking along the path, when my son spotted this teeny tiny egg. Someone has hatched! I don’t know who, but it’s someone pretty small. It’s a cream shell with brown speckles.

Day 340 – Other Side Bench

We saw the little baby Moorhens again. At first we only saw the one that we saw the other day. Then as I was taking photos, I saw another family with two babies. They were sunning themselves on a log in the river. Then when I looked up, I saw this Long-Billed Corella sitting right […]

Day 339 – Josephine’s Bench

It’s overcast today, and I can’t see the city in the horizon. All the same birds as yesterday are here though. There is so many great Benches here. This is another one of my favourites.

Day 338 – Josephine’s Bench

This is so exciting. On the lawn alone, there is so many birds. There’s a Sparrow doing a mating dance, there’s the Superb Wrens, the Crested Pigeons, there’s Australian Pipits, and the White-fronted Chats all just hanging out on the lawn. There’s also some kind of small Honeyeater that I haven’t identified yet. I can’t […]

Day 337 – Josephine’s Bench

There was a little Willy Wagtail out here. He was singing so sweetly! But I missed catching him on the recording. There’s also a little Grey Fantail. What a beautiful morning. I love it when the birds sing. Here’s a picture of the Bench at sunrise.

Day 336 – Josephine’s Bench

Beautiful. It’s almost sunset. We went away again. I wasn’t planning to, but it happened at the last minute and I’m so glad I did. It’s beautiful here. There’s lots of Crested Pigeons, Wrens, Honeyeaters and Crimson Rosellas. This Bench is under the veranda and it has a view of Melbourne city on the horizon. […]

Day 335 – Private Bench

There’s a couple people fishing over the other side of the river. In the ten minutes I’ve been sitting here, I’ve seen them catch two pretty big, very shiny, slightly golden coloured fish. With all the rain we had a couple days ago, the river has risen, and we can’t cross at the causeway again. […]

Day 334 – Lal Lal Bench

It’s so windy out here. There’s three very cute little ponies in this field beside me. All have big shaggy manes.
