Day 231 – Back Deck Bench

I’ve had a busy day, and I’m just taking a minute to sit out here in the sun before I go in to get dinner. I was sitting here and I closed my eyes, and I could hear three main sounds. I could hear a fly buzzing around on the back deck. I can hear […]

Day 230 – Northern Bench

It’s another very quiet day down at the river. Except for the birds, they are all singing this morning. I see Edward cruising down the river. There’s a little bit of sunshine but the wind is still cold. I hear baby magpies everywhere.

Day 229 – Pier Bench

So we threw our flowers, and watched them stream away in a long line. There was purple, yellow, white, blue and pink flowers all floating away on a blue ocean under a blue sky. I threw my Dutch iris first. It’s always such a beautiful way to remember someone. Now, I’m sitting at the Bench […]

Day 228 – Back Deck Bench

It’s cooled off really, really quickly. I’m shivering out here. I was looking around the yard to see what flowers I had, because tomorrow, we’re going to go remember my father. I want some flowers to throw into the water down at the pier. I think a few of these apple blossoms would be nice. […]

Day 227 – Switchback Bench

It’s a windy, windy day today. I was sitting on the Bench in the sun when I saw this little blue wren preening in the tree next to me. See if you can spot him in the photo.

Day 225 – Promenade Bench

It’s very calm today. There’s no wind. There’s very little swell so the ocean is like a lake. The ocean is all silver, gray and purple and reflecting the sky. I think it’s going to rain soon though it’s very humid and there’s storm clouds on the horizon.

Day 224 – Front Deck Bench

These Dutch irises are absolutely my favorite flower on the planet. I wish my whole yard was filled with them and I would be happy if they flowered the whole year round. But they don’t. They’re only out for such a short period of time. But they are so incredibly, breathtakingly beautiful.

Day 223 – Blue Wren Bench

I had a big, busy day today. I don’t even know what I feel as I sit here today. I’m not happy, not sad. It’s just really nice to be sitting somewhere that is quiet and peaceful where I can let it all settle.

Day 222 – Private Bench

It’s misty this morning, but it’s a high mist and I can see the sun trying to shine through. When I got here today, I startled a family of wood ducks. They were just hiding in the bank under the Bench. There was the two parents and ten little fluffy ducklings. You can see them […]
