Day 139 – Oval Bench

There’s some frogs here in a drainage ditch at the side of the oval. It’s already really cold, crisp and cold. I can also hear the magpies warbling as they settle down in the trees for the night. Magpies just have the sweetest sound.

Day 138 – Tennis Court Bench

I’m at the tennis courts. I have never sat on this Bench before. I’ve been here before to play tennis. But I’ve never taken the time to sit down and look around. I think that’s so often what we do in life. We’re in too much of a hurry trying to do something or get […]

Day 137 – Oval Bench

Today, I felt really anxious, the kind of anxiousness that makes me feel sick in my stomach. It robs all joy. I came out here for a walk and to sit and watch the sunset. The magpies are warbling all around me and I took this photo of one sitting on a pole. I won’t […]

Day 136 – Northern Bench

A big group of corellas just flew over me. They’re so loud! They are screeching and swooping their way up the river. My son just built these beautiful little structures at the water’s edge. I told him it reminded me of those little cabins on the water in the Maldives or somewhere. Admittedly though, it’s […]

Day 135 – Northern Bench

As I sat down on the Bench today, a little gap in the clouds opened up, and I was in a little patch of sunshine. All around the bench was in the shade of the trees, but the bench was in the sun. It was lovely. I also saw this little spider on the bench […]

Day 134 – Back Deck Bench

I’ve been wanting to come out here on a frosty morning like this for a while. We have had some really heavy frosts lately, but I haven’t been brave enough to get outside and sit on the Bench amongst it yet. Today, I’m tightly hugging my cup of tea to keep my hands warm. My […]

Day 133 – Northern Bench

There’s a lot of birds around. It’s sunset. There’s a half moon up in the sky already. It’s a very cold night. I’m glad I brought a warm cup of tea to the bench with me.

Day 132 – Private Bench

I don’t feel as calm sitting on the Bench today. It happens sometimes, every day is different. I’m still glad I got outside though. I can still always just appreciate the magic of nature when you look up close, like at this partially dried casuarina frond. Some of its nodes are turning silvery gray at […]

Day 131 – Big Old Tree Bench

There’s always so many different birds at the Big Old Tree. Today, there was a pair of a brightly coloured Eastern Rosellas in the tree when I arrived. The photo is of some Ducks that are nesting in a dead pine tree in a nearby field. See if you can spot them in the photo, […]

Day 130 – Blue Wren Bench

It feels like a really joyful day here at the Bench for me. The sun is out, the river is gurgling by and there’s daffodils in the field on the other side of the river. They’re bright yellow and they’re dancing in the wind and sun. The world feels like it’s full of promise. Like […]
