Day 159 – Oval Bench

There’s ducks, there’s pigeons, and there’s herons flying over. I can hear the corellas. I can hear the crows, the magpies and the sparrows. I can hear the honey eaters and the masked lapwings. The world has woken up and it’s beautiful.

Day 158 – Big Old Tree Bench

It looks like the acacias are in flower here too. The whale’s tail tree looks quite different now. It has the yellow flowers on the bank behind it. But what I love most is how the yellow is reflecting in the river.

Day 157 – Blue Wren Bench

It’s a beautiful day today. It is sunny, but the air is still cold. The acacias down by the river have just burst into flower. The river’s lined with brightly colored yellow blossoms.

Day 156 – Other Side Bench

The corellas are around at the river today. I wanted to come here to check the flood markers after I went to Switchback Bench and saw that the bridge was underwater yesterday. It’s at 2.8 meters today. Still nothing like it was last year when it flooded. I’m trying to decide whether to use a […]

Day 155 – Switchback Bench

The footbridge is officially underwater today. You can still see the faint outline, and the way the flow of the water changes as it goes over the bridge.

Day 154 – Northern Bench

I love coming down to the river in the morning. The sunlight sparkles of the water when I’m on the Western bank and all the bird songs are just lovely.

Day 153 – By the Way Bench

The By the Way Bench! It has been a long time and it feels really good to be back. It’s a very windy day, but the sun is out. I came over to take a photo of the beautiful cream blossoms on this gum tree. Then I noticed the amazing, pearl like, parasites on its […]

Day 152 – Lily Pond Bench

I was just looking around here wondering what to take a photo of, when I saw these two teal ducks coming in low. I knew they were going to land. So I took a photo just as they were about to. There’s hardly any lily pads left. It’s too cold. The ones that are left […]

Day 151 – Northern Bench

Two ducks have just skated in to land. I wonder if the recording picked up that sound. It’s so beautiful. That’s Edward that I can hear quacking. He’s waking up on the other side of the river. He started preening. I love how when the river gets full, the water flows around the submerged tree […]

Day 150 – Private Bench

It’s absolutely beautiful right now. There was a big storm earlier, but now it’s completely calm. The sky is still dark though. The river is flowing swiftly and it’s muddier than usual after all the rain. Here at the Bench though, the water level hasn’t changed since I was here a couple of days ago.
