Ormiston Bench, I’ll call this one. The Bench is a dead tree, and the dead tree is leaning against a live tree. And as the wind blows, the live tree sways, and it creates this creaking sound. The picture says it all. This place is truly stunning.

Day 107 – Casuarina Campground Bench
It’s breezy today and we’re in a campsite with casuarinas. It’s one of my favorite things in the world, the sound of the wind in the casuarinas. It’s blowing right now. There’s no one else at this campsite. It’s gorgeous. It got cold overnight though. There was ice on our tent this morning.
Day 106 – Valley of the Winds Bench
The Valley of the Winds! The Bench is a stone wall. The view is gorgeous, and the wind is funnelling straight up the valley. We are surrounded by swallows and zebra finches. Can you hear the wind howling?
Day 105 – Mutitjulu Bench
Just like the little sign beside the says, this waterhole is a good place to just sit, feel the silence, listen to the wind in the trees, and the songs of the birds and the trickling of the water. One of my favourite bench moments ever.
Day 104 – Uluru Sunrise Bench
Another day, another dawn. Today, we’ve stayed longer at the sunrise area and all the other tourists have gone. It’s just us. And it is absolutely breathtaking! The big blue sky, the shadows on the rock, the enormity of the space.
