The cascades are loud today. There was more rain overnight. The river’s filling up bit by bit. There’s a gentle rain today. It’s beautiful.

Day 97 – Blue Wren Bench
I’m here at Blue Wren Bench. The blue wrens are on the other bank. I can see them flitting around in the undergrowth. The river’s flowing swiftly. It’s usual winter current. Sometimes I sit on the bench and I just let everything fall silent. And then see what’s left. There’s usually a greater sense of […]
Day 96 – Private Bench
It’s such a lovely winter morning. There is a breeze. I went out for a walk wearing gloves, no but no woolly hat. The grass is green and the sky is blue. It just feels good to be alive today. This is a picture of the path to Private Bench.
Day 95 – Windy Lake Bench
It’s cold on this bench. The breeze is blowing from the lake, making it even colder. But the sun is out and it’s magnificent. It’s glaring off the lake. There’s all kinds of nice water birds too. I saw some black swans that had baby cygnets. Bit of an unusual time of year for that […]
Day 94 – Lily Pond Bench
It’s not windy today, which almost makes it feel warm. There’s a little bit of sunshine. The autumn leaves have almost all fallen off the trees in the field beside the path on the way here. There’s some frogs in the Lily Pond. I remember back to last year, when for a couple of weeks […]
Day 93 – Northern Bench
What a difference a day makes. Sitting on the bench today, I don’t feel at all as calm or as peaceful as I did yesterday. In fact, I feel quite the opposite. And you know what? That’s okay too.
Day 92 – Northern Bench
I’ve been sitting on the bench for a long time today. I’ve sat here so long that I guess a sense of timelessness has settled over me. The river gently flows past, sparkling in the sunlight. The ducks drift gracefully downstream, then swim slowly back upstream. I saw a dog come down to the bank […]
Day 91 – Switchback Bench
I’m on the bridge down by the cascades below Switchback Bench. There’s always a cold wind that blows from a waterfall or cascades. Today is no exception. The rivers getting back to its winter shape, it’s a lot wider, fuller. I like the way it changes over the seasons.
Day 90 – Blue Wren Bench
There’s a little bit of weak morning sunshine but it barely has any warmth to it anymore. When I put my hand in it, I feel a tiny bit of warmth on my palm. But it’s nothing like summer.
Day 89 – Private Bench
I’m down at Private Bench, and I’m so glad I came down today. I was at home. I just received some news that I was hoping not to get. I wasn’t feeling great and I was having a hard time brushing it off. So I just stopped, put on my sneakers, came outside, all the […]
