There’s lots of birds at the Blue Wren Bench. I saw a Kingfisher, an Azure Kingfisher, flashing through the trees. His iridescent blue back and his little buff chest shining in the sun. He was being chased by a smaller bird. No Wrens today. Although I can hear them in the undergrowth on the other […]

Day 26 – Other Side Bench
It’s smoky out here this evening. Someone must be burning off somewhere. There also seems to be lots more farm equipment on the roads with the change of seasons. It’s lovely down by the river as usual. There’s no wind today. There’s ducks and a dusky moor hen.
Day 25 – Back Deck Bench
The sunset is very pink tonight. It’s making everything look pink. All of my pot plants, the bucket of apples we’ve picked to make apple pie filling to put in the freezer over winter are all tinged pink with the sunset light. Tonight’s different too because it’s cold enough for some people to have lit […]
Day 24 – Northern Bench
The birds are settling in for the night down by the river. I just saw two white eared honeyeaters chasing a red wattlebird. They were flashing and ducking and weaving through the branches of the trees. We’re having leaf races down in the river. The river is now very narrow and it’s going under the […]
Day 23 – Oval Bench
Tonight the air feels cool at the oval. It is still and it feels like there might be a frost overnight.
Day 22 – Big Old Tree Bench
It’s the most magical day down at the river with all kinds of little tiny birds singing and flitting through the trees. The water is gently gurgling away. Even the fallen leaves in the river seem to be dancing around in the current, spinning in the eddies and flowing away. There’s something in the air […]
Day 21 – Back Deck Bench
The stillness of sunset. Sitting out here, the stillness brings me to that place where I’m just so present.
Day 20 – Big Old Tree Bench
There’s a cool breeze blowing down the river today. It’s incredibly peaceful at the Big Old Tree. There’s some fishing line tangled in one of the lower branches over the river. A long piece is hanging down and blowing gently in the breeze. Sometimes when I sit still, it’s like I can suddenly feel so […]
Day 19 – Northern Bench
I love sitting on this bench. Today I feel a little bit sad though. Maybe it’s because it was a long weekend here but now the weekend’s over. I still have more of my projects and creative endeavors that I want to do. Or maybe I’m feeling a bit sad because summer is coming to […]
Day 18 – Sunny Cliff Bench
I haven’t been past this bench in years. I used to come to the beach here a lot, but I never sat on the bench on the clifftop above. Today could be one of the last hot days of this summer. It’s low tide and I’m looking forward to snorkelling in the rocks pools below.
