Today I’ve discovered a new bench. It’s wet from spring rain so I can’t actually sit on it, but I love it. It’s got green grass, big trees and the river. It’s on the eastern side of the river. I’m wondering what to call it. Down on a mossy log, half submerged in the river, […]

Day 63 – Switchback Bench
It’s raining down here at Switchback Bench, so we are sheltering under the trees beside the cascades. The trees here are so thick. None of the rain is getting through and none of the wind either. All there is here is the sound of the cascades and all the green mossy tree stumps and the […]
Day 62 – Back Deck Bench
There is a huge, amazing storm cloud over us at the moment. There is lightning everywhere and thunder but it’s not raining yet. It feels like it’s going to though. The cloud itself is really interesting. It’s like a giant octopus in the sky with all these different tentacles and even suction cups, and the […]
Day 61 – Back Deck Bench
It’s an incredibly still night. Not a breath of wind. It is just beautiful. A beautiful sunset, and it feels like a summer night. It is so warm and still, and it smells like summer too. I’m swatting mosquitoes on the back deck. I can hear sheep dogs barking and sheep baaing. I think they […]
Day 60 – By the Way Bench
It’s a wonderful day to be outside, it’s warm and sunny and still. There’s a pair of Kookaburras in a nearby tree. They’re laughing on and off every now and then. I just love the feeling of peaceful space that there is at this Bench. I rarely see people out this way. I always feel […]
Day 59 – Back Deck Bench
I decided to sit outside to eat my dinner. I listened to the frogs, and the birds, and watched the sunset. I saw the clouds move through all stages of purple, from pink to purple grey as the light faded. I read a book today. The author was talking about getting clear on your ‘guiding […]
Day 58 – Big Old Tree ‘Bench’
There’s so many birds around today, big ones and little ones. There’s a lot of Rainbow Lorikeets, Crimson Rosellas, Eastern Rosellas and the Red-rumped Parrots. I also saw a species of duck that I can’t remember the name of. I’ll have to look it up in my bird book when I get home. Today, I’m […]
Day 57 – Back Deck Bench
It feels like winter out here. The wind is freezing my fingers and toes, nose and cheeks. The frogs in the field behind are croaking. It’s just me out here, with the first star and the last light of day.
Day 56 – By the Way Bench
Sitting here this morning there is a gentle breeze in the trees and their leaves are rustling softly. There are birds singing and the occasional bee buzzing. It’s just utter perfection. The softness is everywhere. The breeze touches my face. Such a beautiful blue sky day.
Day 55 – Back Deck Bench
I went for a surf this morning, and had a fantastic time for a couple hours. Then I got home and had to go straight to bed because I was so wiped out. I spent the afternoon in bed, and now my whole body is sore. It’s literally difficult to sit upright. Sitting out here […]
